pieces of my life come together—
fashion, interiors, art, beautiful products,
empowering women and a love of Italy
that has shaped how I see the world.
This boutique is deeply personal.
It is my lifetime of creativity, brought to life—
and my little piece of Europe, brought home.
A Creative Life
Since The Beginning
Creativity has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
As a child, I was always drawing women’s fashion, hairstyles and makeup.
My mother—a lifelong textile artist—
taught me how to sew, and by the age of eleven,
I was making nearly half of my own clothes.
I loved every part of the process: imagining the design, choosing the fabric,
experimenting with colour and watching something completely original
take shape in my hands.
Those one-of-a-kind pieces attracted attention—
but more importantly, they brought me joy.
That feeling has stayed with me throughout my life
and remains at the heart of everything I create today.
The Designer
Behind The Boutique
In my twenties, I worked at a high-end hair salon
and often wore my own designs to work.
Clients and stylists began asking me to
create something especially for them.
They would give me the freedom to design the piece, choose the fabric and surprise them
with the finished result.
When the stylists wore my creations,
their clients would ask:
“Where did you get that?”
And they would point toward me and say:
“Beth made it.”
My creative path continued through fashion design, interior decorating, visual merchandising,
furniture transformation and graphic design.
Eventually, product development
brought all these disciplines together.
Una Bella Vita is not a departure from my career.
It is the place where every part of it finally belongs.
Why Italy?
My first trip to Europe was an eight-day solo journey to Venice and Paris and back Venice,
in my 40's.
When I first stepped onto the island of Venice,
I heard the words as clearly as if they surrounded me:
“You are home.”
I have never forgotten that moment.
Over the next fifteen years, I returned to Europe again and again—
travelling through Italy, France, Greece, Portugal, Spain, England and Holland.
I travelled with people I loved, brought my daughter,
led a women’s retreat and often journeyed alone.
I stayed in castles, palazzos, agriturismos, boutique inns, hostels,
a medieval tower, a campground and even on a boat.
I travelled by train, gondola, ferry, bicycle, bus, Vespa and tiny inflatable boat.
I even rented cars, terrified...but I kept doing it!
I swam in the Mediterranean, explored medieval villages,
toured galleries and ruins, danced and dined with strangers,
made dear friends and discovered that courage often grows one uncertain step at a time.
Every journey changed me.
But no matter where I travelled, Italy remained where my heart belonged.
Women Supporting Women
My own creative life began because a woman—my mother—
shared her talent, knowledge and encouragement with me.
Today, supporting women makers feels like continuing that gift.
Una Bella Vita provides local and Canadian women artists, designers and craftspeople
with a beautiful place to share their work, reach new customers
and become part of a creative community.
We support one another through collaboration, promotion,
events, knowledge-sharing and genuine connection.
Bringing Europe Home
Every time I returned to Canada, I missed Europe.
I missed the beauty of the architecture,
the warmth of the people,
the pleasure of wandering into a small shop
and discovering something extraordinary.
I missed the way Italy and France
made everyday life feel more intentional,
more connected—and somehow more beautiful.
Una Bella Vita Boutique
was created from that longing.
I wanted to build a place that felt
like a charming shop you might discover
along a street in Paris, Rome or Florence:
filled with beautiful fashion, jewelry, fragrances, furniture, art and unexpected treasures.
A place where you could slow down,
feel inspired, meet someone wonderful
and leave carrying a little more beauty
into your life.
